Rich, blinding them with science. Dr. Rich Styles, center, blinds the students with science. We took measurements of nutrient levels, salinity, temperature, sediment size distribution, and alongshore transport.

Making observations of the wind and waves Much of the time was spent making observations of the wind and waves, as well as the beach profile from the dunes to the breaker zone.
Students making observations Students continue to observe beach conditions.
Parker, Brooke, Amanda, and Chanda Parker gives it the old college try while Brooke, Amanda and Chanda observe him to make sure he's digging properly.

Marissa and Josh taking the seine net out into the surf Marissa and Josh were our intrepid volunteers for taking the seine net out into the surf. They didn't catch anything, but we did find a jellyfish (dead), sea urchin (live), blue crab (dead), tunicate (dead) and various snails and barnacles.
Grapefruit baseball Murph and David, preparing to boldly send this grapefruit where no grapefruit had gone before. We used the grapefruits to measure longshore current.
It's Saturday afternoon and our weekend of science is winding down. Measurements were collected and obseravations were made that were later used to write their lab reports.
