| ABOUT US:
The
Boundary Layer Stress and Sediment Transport Laboratory, or
BLASST Lab, is a research group at the University of South
Carolina affiliated with both the Marine Science program and
the Department of Geological Sciences. This lab is directed
by Assistant Professor Dr. Richard Styles. The BLASST Lab
primarily seeks to model physical processes associated with
bottom boundary layer flow. The dynamics of sediment transport
in estuarine environments are also of key interest. Recent
work has focused on using high frequency (HR) radar systems
in coastal and inter-tidal environments. The BLASST Lab has
strong ties to the Baruch Institute for Marine & Coastal
Sciences, located in Georgetown, SC, and conducts most of
their field work along coastal South Carolina.
